Twin Kings of Ruin: Entropy Cults and Immortality Cults

Let's face it. Death. It kind of sucks. Heck, the end of the universe, whenever that might happen, is probably even worse, right?

Well, at least we have each other, right? And when we're all dead in the ground together, we'll all be there together. Or whatever makes you happy.

Except... some people are pretty fucked up. And some pretty fucked up things make them happy.

Most societies, inheriting a Redeemer moniker, which the Hive was kind enough to rip off, acknowledge two things as the 'Twin Kings of Ruin.' That is, two things which are sure to tempt and corrupt a society (or at least their aristocracies) to the bone; Immortality Cults, and Entropy Cults.

Between the two, Immortality Cults are by far the most tame. And with modern biofab, ultra-rich assholes in the galaxy can expand their lives for a very long time, while still being philosophically content with it being their thoughts, and their electrical impulses. So, most immortality cults today are pretty tame. Not a lot of the sacrificing tons of people per day to try and derive possible treatments against death and aging. Occasionally you still get some of that, but most of the time, immortality cults just render people less effective by channeling their fears and efforts into enabling their existential dread.

The far worse one has been, and is still, Entropy Cults.

These are the people that, for whatever reason gets through their thick skull, don't think death is a bad thing. Not even an 'eh' thing that's necessary. They think it's a 'good' thing. Like, a really good thing. Like, we should all try it, as soon as possible. And in a way that transfers as little energy into beneficial reactions as possible. Let's speed up the heat death of the universe as much as we can, revel in death, procreate so there's more to slaughter. Like, yeah, really fucked up shit.

And it never seems to be that there's some simple way to treat them, as a whole, for good. Some aspect of living beings seeks out death, and some people tend to get that weird aspect a little harder than others. Sure, fine, most of the time they're handled well enough. Given therapy, contained, destroyed, whatever.

Sometimes though, they get their hands on powerful tech. Or are themselves a powerful user of technology. Why? Who knows. But, a serious downside of having a well-equipped, and well lead entropy-cult, is you will never, ever find a more willing group of people to surrender themselves to Corrupted Wielder artifacts in return for being able to eek out massive damage on anything, and anyone around them.

Not a good look.
