Concerning Cybernetics, Implants, 'Natural' Organics

It goes without saying that in the world today, it is not particularly difficult to acquire a cybernetic attachment to one's body, any number of particularly useful or niche implants into one's body, or the introduction of other sophisticated - perhaps even intelligent - systems. More than that, but biofabrication has created something even more pressing. With organic components potentially as possible as cybernetic, at a significant cost. As sch, the day has come where 'unmodified' humans are now a minority. Though most still only have small, relatively superficial implants, they still count for something.

What are the health-risks associated with such? What does it mean for people who have implants?

For the most part, nothing.

Most simple implants are self-powered, and contain all of their required processing capability within themselves. While some heavy-duty implants or cybernetics might need to draw upon additional, outside power or processing power at varying levels, most common implants don't. And most are enclosed systems, which utilize their own diagnostics, and can't be easily tampered with - even by Assemblers. No real risk of having your pace-maker shut off by a petty passenger on the shuttle.

But, these common implants aren't usually what people seek to outfit themselves with for an edge in combat, or the things that usually get targeted for attack by hackers, or otherwise.

Sensory-feedback systems, surveillance, adaptive weapon systems, smart-targeting, externally powered cybernetics, dynamic healing-response systems, and more are fair game. And these tend to be more common around the rough-and-tumble types. As well, even the innocuous cybernetics can make one far more easily visible to screening. And while Biofabrication is not yet as easily deduced by machines, there are subtle quirks and discrepancies that the pattern-seeking organic is able to pick out on a subconscious level.

This gives some inherent advantages to being a 'natural' organic. But, there are very obvious advantages to decking oneself out in top-of-the-line mods. Despite the concerns that it might bring with it.
